    Bad link for Trooper's thread

'78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy , when you click on it, it takes you elsewhere. If someone can fix it, please delete this thread I started. Thanks

    Another plywood thread

Stopped by the local Lowes to see if they had Araucaply. They called the supplier, and everyone is on a waiting list for arauca and they don't know when they'll get it. I'm in no hurry since I'm still in the planning stage. They CAN get 1/2" AC southern yellow pine for $37 a sheet. Anyone have...

    70hp carbs on a 60hp Rude

I have a 1988 E60TLCCR 60 hp. I have access to 70hp carbs off a 1987 Rude. The intake manifold and reeds carry the same part #'s, as does the crank. The only difference I can find is the 70hp pistons are 3.188 dia. while the 60hp is 3.000. Will the 70 carbs work and basically turn my 60 into a...

    Steam out of the exhaust

1988 Evinrude 60hp E60TLCCR, trying out a new prop today, and when I went back to idle I noticed steam out of the exhaust. Water temp about 65 degrees, air temp about 55 degrees. It cleared up after a few minutes. Is there something to be concerned about here? I just never noticed it before. I...

    1708 Biax vs. Woven Roving

Still in the planning and measuring stage. Structurally, is 1708 equal to Woven? I read that it's easier to go over the stringers with 1708 since it bends around corners, so why not just use the 1708 on everything? I have soft spots in the deck, haven't ripped it out yet to check the stringers...

Question about deck measurements for cutting plywood.

The underside is glassed before laying it down. Are the edges just soaked with resin? Should a gap be allowed for the edges when the plywood pieces are butted up? Does csm get placed on the edges? I don't think I've run acroos that in all the miles of threads I've read on here. I'm still in the...

Does a 2002 115hp Merc Saltwater need to be flushed?

I think it's a 2002. Buddy just got one, and was wondering if it should be flushed after saltwater use. He uses it solely in saltwater. Also, what makes the motor a "saltwater" motor? What differences are there? Thanks, just curious.

    Aluminum vs Stainless

As a general rule, on the same style/type/pitch of prop, will a aluminum prop produce the same RPM as a stainless one? The only thing that changes is the material. Thanks.

Etec prop on '88 Evinrude 60hp?

    Will a 2010 Rogue 13 spline Etec prop work on a '88 60hp Evinrude? Seems I read that the prop shaft is a different diameter. It's a 4 blade stainless 13 1/4 x 15 pitch for $125, just what I'm looking for.

    Evinrude 115 Ocean Pro Model # ?

My buddy has the 115, but the sticker is gone that tells what the model and serial numbers are. He thinks it's a 1995, but not sure. Is the model number marked somewhere else on the motor? My 60 has a plug on top that has the model # on it, wonder if the 115 has it somewhere also. The problem...

    Milling the head on a 1988 E60TLCCR

I thought I'd start a new thread on the E60TLCCR middle cylinder ate the rings. Any one with experience with milling a head, say 30 thousands, to remove the dings on this head? The pistons are flat topped and do not protrude above the cylinders. It would raise the compression, but would it hurt...

E60TLCCR no compression on middle cylinder

Went out to try the new smart tabs. It jumped on plane, went 100' and died. Restarted and no power. Got it back home, good spark on all 3, new plugs are in, checked compression and have 125 on top & bottom, 20 on the middle one. I don't see any holes in the piston, so I guess I'll tear it apart...

    Changing jets in 60hp Evinrude

Looking for the truth here. A guy told me that if I change the orifices (#25) and plugs (#54D) on my E60TLCCR to #33 and #65D from a 70hp respectively that I'd end up with a 70 hp motor. I say I'd end up with a flooded motor. Any truth to any of this? Thanks

    Screw Holes

What's the best way to fill screw holes in the transon, below the floor level? Stuff it full of 5200? I was wondering if they make "fiberglass sticks" that you could drill the hole to size and tap the "stick" in, kinda like dowel rods. It would keep water from getting to the wood, but 5200 would...

    Best Boat Wax

My 5th wheel needs a waxing, and the book says to use boat wax. Hey, maybe I'll wax the boat too! Need something not labor intensive, the 5th wheel is 39' long. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Are Props Balanced?

Seems they should be. I have a spare stainless 3 blade prop that had a crack about 3/8" from the end of one blade. Being bored, I took a side grinder and ground off the end till I had the crack removed, then shaped it so it looked good. I then made a paper templet of it, marked the other 2 and...

    Wiring a volt gauge

A 8 to 18 volt gauge was given to me, and I thought I'd drill a hole and mount it in my CC, since I don't have a volt gauge and I would like to see if the motor is charging the battery while running. On the back are 3 screw studs and one spade connection. The spade is for the light bulb. One...

Drawing for attaching floor to hull side

I've looked for 2 days and can't find the drawing on here about running a 2x2, or somesuch, along the side of a fiberglass boat for the deck to sit on. It was a nice sketch, maybe by woodonglass?. Does anyone remember what thread that was in? I'z a gettin' flustered. It had sawcuts along the...

    Attwood hydrofoil satbilizers, do harm?

Will they break the anticavitation plate?? I have a '88 Evin, 60hp, that came with the 2 piece Attwood foils. I'm new to boating, since March, and a fishing buddy told me that I should have a one piece foil, like the aluminum whale tail, and that the 2 piece plastic/rubber ones will break the...

    1996 Sailfish 17' water-logged?

It is supposed to rain, wish it would, so I cranked the boat as high as I could in front so the rain would run out the drain plug and give it a good bath in the process. There's a silver dollar size hole in the fiberglass in the fore side of the bilge well in front of the motor. Water was...
