    87 Johnson 140 V-4. Sucked up seaweed almost destroyed my motor. Need to replace intake screens, lower unit is removed for water pump service. Is there an external screen that can be installed? If not, does the drive shaft have to be removed? How is this task accomplished?

    At wits end HELP!!! Running Hot or Not 1987 140HP V4

    Changed water pump, good stream now. Motor was still running Hot 185 degree both sides, and going up. Shut motor down. Changed both thermostats and diaphraghms. NOW one side is running at 142 degrees the other at 181 degrees. Am I running hot or not? This is all with muffs in my driveway.
