Installing a new lower shift cable in my MC-1 and the new core wire wont go inside the cable. It goes in about 8 inches and stops solid. And I mean solid. No chance it will work. I've emailed Quicksilver to see if they will replace it. I can only find kits for sale and I only need a new...
Need some ideas. When I started to remove the lower shift cable nut on my MC-1 outdrive the nut facets rounded over. So I drilled the center out and used some heat on the casting. No luck. The nut split. I'm stumped. Any ideas? Really hard to get into the cavity to work.
I just installed a new ECHOMAP and all is great except for the fuel flow in Navigation map page. Fuel flow shows in the vessel/engine pages and the fishing map page. But in Navigation the field just shows dashes. Any ideas?
I have a 20 foot SRV SeaRay and want to add a depth finder. I boat mainly in the Illinois river and a depth finder would be valuable. I'm not a fisherman but it looks like a fish finder is the answer. I don't understand all the ads. What is the most practical for me? What is Chirp? What...
I want to install a fuel sensor on my 1976 Mercruiser 233 but unsure as to where. The fuel line from the fuel pump to the carburetor is solid and I don't want to cut it. There is no room between the fuel/water separator and pump. The fuel line to the engine filter is rubber and can be spliced...
More than once I have damaged the drive shaft seal when mating the lower to the upper. My old MC-1 has the pin sticking out and if it hits the seal it can definitely damage or dislodge it. Is there a way to "carefully" mate the two? My strength isn't what it used to be so I can't hold it as...
New engine two seasons ago and it runs great. But on plane, 2500 rpm plus, it starts to overheat. Temperature creeps up slowly into the red until I throttle back after about 3 to 5 minutes. Then engine cools down to normal and you can run all day off plane never heating up. I have replaced...
Rebuilt all three carbs on my 1100. Could not get it to run right. Pulled carbs apart again and found all three check valves on the kidney shaped Valve Body assembly had softened. Anybody run into this? Just running regular gasoline. See picture.
Starts and runs great. But when you hammer it, it only goes 1/4 rpm or so and stumbles sometimes dies. If you crack the chock one third when it stumbles it accelerates to full throttle. Push the chock in and it continues to run fine at full throttle. It has been sitting for two seasons...
Since one can start a PWC without water and no water stays in ski, why not start them every other week or so during the off (winter) season for 5-10 seconds? It would lubricate the cylinder walls and rest of the engine.
Downside??

On my 233 MC-1 the cooling tube through the stern is 5/8. The hose to the engine water pimp is 1-1/4. There is a "home made?" reducer on the 5/8 tube. See picture. No where on any parts diagram do I see how this miss match is supposed to be addressed. What was the original setup?
Any...
I tear at lease two seals getting the outdrive back on. Almost every time. Heck I tore one just pulling it out of the package. What's the trick? Heavy, cumbersome outdrive against wimpy, thin seal. And that's the seal to keep water out of the u-joints!
Replacing the manifolds and risers on my Mercruiser 233 due to a cooling issue. The new risers are BARR and came without the sleeve in the discharge where the water goes into the rubber connector. Old ones had a sleeve in the last 2-3 inches before water entry into the rubber connector. Is that...
I've replaced the reverse lock valve O-rings and it still leaks. I'm thinking of using an automotive bake lock out electric valve and actuating it with the micro switch on the reverse lever cam. Has anyone done this? Thoughts?

What should the manifold temperatures be under?? I can put my hand on them but can't leave it there. Is that cool enough? Is there an actual temperature value? I plan on taking my inferred temp gun with me next time and get an actual value. Engine is a 233 Mercruiser.
I'm getting older and the old back is rebelling. Is there an easy way to lift the outdrive when removing it? Installing is especially difficult for me. An engine lift would help but where do you attach to the outdrive. Making things worse I'm doing this on a gravel driveway. Engine hoists...
