    Life expectancy of motor

    My old 1979 Merc V6 150hp has 698 hrs without a rebuild. Is that a huge amount for these motors and what sort of life would you expect from one. Thanks John

    Engine weight

    Thanks to every one here I found out my outboard is not a 1985 but a 1979 model Merc 150hp. What would this weigh maybe around 150kg (330lbs) ?

    I am going to look at a 17 ft boat that has only had 1 owner from new, it has the origional 1982 150hp Merc. The guy says he has only used it 2 times in 4 years and it has never given him any problems. He has new impellor for it. What are the chances of it still being reliable after all this...
