    1987 Johnson 88 SPL water pump queston

    I was wondering if anybody had any advice on removing the shift rod to drop the lower unit. I've read some people said they removed the bottom carb, others said put the engine in reverse. Any suggestions or advice would be great I'm about to get started and want the get all my ducks in a row...
