    What should I hook the tach to?

    I have a 1963 Merc 1000 inline six. Can ayone tell me what to hook the tach to? Some say rectifyer at one of the stator leads - others say coil on the positive side. I have two coils. Anyone? Thanks, Dave

    Cheers all, I have a friend who has just retro fitted his 13' MFG runabout with a 1962 Merc 500. This is one clean Merc 500. Great compression! Looks and runs like new. We fitted it to the boat and took it out last week with the old two blade prop which came on it. The engine ran great all day...

    Merc 70 or Merc 115?

    I have an old Boston Whaler Montauk 17'. It currently has a 1979 70 horse 3 cyl. Mercury. A friend of mine wants to trade me a 115 Mercury inline six for it (circa 198?). The boat is rated for a max of 100hp. I'm not sure whether or not to trade...I could use the extra speed, but I'm not sure...
