    Housekeeping PSA

Alright everybody, here's a really important PSA. Check your water fittings. Washer, ice maker, sinks, everything. This sucks.

    Don't tape holes.

I have a waverunner to fix, and the owner or marina put this vinyl tape over the holes. For anyone who thinks about doing something like this, please don't. It just makes your repair shop's job harder. Some of this stuff is really hard to peel off, and you can never get all the adhesive off...

    Boats from work.

I work in a repair shop, so I get a bit of variety in the kinds of boats and damage I see. This is just going to be a thread of stuff I think might be interesting to look at.

Should I start a work thread?

Since I work in a repair shop, I see a bit of variety in boats and damage. I could start a thread with pictures of what I'm doing. Would it be entertaining for the regulars here, or would it be too much like stroking my own ego?

    Ideas for using scrap fiberglass.

I work in a repair shop, and we inevitably make loads of little scrap pieces of roving and byply that we can't use on anything. My local recycling place won't take it. Is there a shredder or something that could chop this up into strands? Like csm, but loose strands. It would be great if we...

    Recommended reading?

I've been trying to learn more about my work lately. Boat repair is a career for me, so any knowledge can only help. I've been doing this for 11 years. I knoe how to do the work, but I don't really know much about the materials, design, or anything related to the industry. I'm almost done with a...

    Big motoe + tiny transom

Bass boats love this combo of huge motors and little transoms. Nice open cracks on both sides of transom and wiring boot. The ones at the boot could just be screws that aren't counter sunk, they never are.

Making new dashes for an old Caravelle, should I keep the molds?

I'm currently working on an old Caravelle (I don't know the year or model). I'm piecing together the old broken dashes to use as a mold to make new ones. I'm wondering if it would be worth it to keep molds to make more, or if this will just be a one off. I have no idea if there is a big...

    New member introduction.

I didn't see a new member section, so I'm posting this here. I'm Mike. I've been working in a boat repair shop for a bit over 11 years now. We do fiberglass and some limited aluminum bodywork, paint, structural wood (but not wood hulls), and some other stuff. We don't work on engines though. A...
