I have never had any problems with my engine until I let it sit 3-4 months one winter. My mechanic changed the fuel pump-tuned it up and changed the oil. When I first started it it sounded differnet--I am not mechanically inclined! as i pulled out of the marina and went to accelerate it stalls...
