    reverse grinding when trying to shift

    does anyone know why this would be happening on my 94 40 horse yamaha, worked fine one day and grinds the next, if i disconnect the shift cable at the motor i can put it in reverse manually, but it will pop out of gear, how do i adjust the linkage on this motor, or does it sound more serious...

    40 hp yamaha screams like its out of gear in foward

    hi all , new boat owner, i have this 40 yamaha and today it ran fine until i went about half throttle at which time it seemed like it was in neutrel. it worked fine at lower speeds any thoughts. i am unsure on year model i am heading out to grab the codes now... thanks tnkc
