    Trim Problem

Because the switch has excessive carbon build up, or possibly corrosion on the internal contacts, which causes a voltage drop. Replace the switch.

Engine wouldn't fire without throttle after overnight

So it could be anything, but where you would start is by checking for fuel pressure leakdown and throwing the scanner on it to check for codes. Having to open the throttle to start the engine can be an indicator that the engine is flooded, which will happen if the injectors are leaking, but it...

    1972 mercruiser water issue

If you are sure the water pump assembly is assembled correctly, It's probably the water seal in the upper unit where the water pump output pipe connects. When that seal goes bad, it leaks like a sieve internally. Which means not all of the water leaving the pump makes it to the engine at lower...

    Insurance

One would be silly not to have at least liability, environmental, and wreck removal insurance. All of which are policies that can be purchased without requiring any additional coverage for the hull value itself.

Mercruiser 3.0L LX - EST Ignition - how to check for proper spark?

The easiest way to check for spark is to clip a timing light to each plug wire, one at a time, and see if the timing light flashes evenly and consistently with engine RPM. If it doesn't there is a spark issue; if it does, there isn't a spark issue. Just make sure your plugs are new and the plug...

    Help with wiring diagram!

Sooo... I am an ABYC certified marine electrician... that diagram is all wrong. Please reach out to somebody in person to create a diagram for you or wire your boat so that you do not have a fire. It won't be cheap but it will be right, as an example I bill out at 175 an hour personally here in...

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

Just a quick point is that you posted an engine manufacture wiring color code chart. ABYC does not apply to the actual engines, the manufacturer of the engine is free to use whatever colors they want. ABYC applies to the wiring of the boat hull itself, separate from the engine wiring.

    Boat Pedestal Question

Thanks for that. Up until right now, I have never stuck my nose in H-31, nor have I ever seen any questions on the ABYC exams that may come from H-31. The more you know.

    Boat Pedestal Question

Just curious, which ABYC standard(s) would you be referring to?

    What type fuel hose?

Maybe a bad way of stating that, my error. BRP Marine signed an agreement with Mercury, not BRP the entire company. Source - https://fishingtackleretailer.com/brp-discontinues-evinrude-outboard-engines-signs-agreement-with-mercury-marine/

    What type fuel hose?

I didn't realize you were talking about the hose under the cowl. Standards do not apply to the hoses on the engine itself. Usually the dealers simply sell the fuel line in rolls by the foot. Mercury purchased BRP, so your best bet is to go to a mercury dealer and get as much fuel line as you...

    What type fuel hose?

I don't know anything about canukistan but in the US the USCG has stability test and floatation requirements for recreational small craft. For example, to much power can cause to much heeling at speed, causing the aft gunnels to go underwater. To much weight will affect the cockpit drain system...

    What type fuel hose?

See above. That hose is rated SAE J90. Marine fuel line must be rated SAE J1527 to be compliant.
  16. JustJason

    What type fuel hose?

No it does not. Machinery would be something that burns a fuel (generator, inboard engine) For an outboard-powered boat the requirement is the fuel hose you use must say SAE J1527 on it. If it says that on the hose you are good to go, if not, then the hose is not compliant. Others have said...

    What type fuel hose?

OP didn't post enough information about his boat to make the proper recommendation. Is the boat an inboard or an outboard? Is there any machinery in a common location as the fuel lines?

Fiberglass cracking - BRAND NEW R4 Surf 2023

If you can physically hear/feel flexing underfoot there is a latent defect in the hull and it wasn't laid up thick enough in the mold. It may or may not be able to be repairable. Taking it to the dealer is always the first step, they may or may not be able to fix it. Depending on the feedback...

    Carburetor question

It's likely from bacterial growth. You can always give bleach a shot but if that doesn't work there is a product made specifically for bacterial pinking. It's called, wait for it, Pink Away.

Doral 360 - Water Trapped in Hull

No, no drain holes. If there were drain holes any potential CO leak from the engine compartment could find there way into the accomodation spaces.
