    How to remove the spanner nut 45 hp Mercury lower unit

    I need to replace the lower unit shaft oil seals but the spanner nut seems to be unwilling. Since it is plastic, worried about ruining the nut....any suggestions or idea on how to remove it. I don't have a spanner tool. Thanks, Larry

    Will !990 40 hp oil injected power trim unit fit 1989 classic 50 45 hp non injected

    I have two merc outboards, 1990 oil injected 40 hp (bad piston) and 1989 classic 50, 45 hp non injected. I would like to put the power trim on the 45 hp but the swivel mount is very different. I would need to remove the shift rod and haven't figured that out. Does any know if the PPT will fit...

    We have a 1989, classic 50 model, 40 hp with a locked-up power head, we also have a 1987 classic 50, 45 hp in good condition...is possible to replace the 40 hp power head with the 45 hp power head Both are oil injected.
