    Bad lower crankshaft seal on Merc 9.8

    I'm trying to split the crankcase on my 1984 merc 9.8 block to replace the lower crank seal - but having trouble getting the phillips bolts out. Is there a knack here? It's really hard to get any sort of torque on them before the screwdriver pops out.

    Sealing new gaskets on 9.8 merc

    I'm replacing the water jacket gasket, and exhaust plate gaskets on my 1985ish Merc 9.8. Can I use Ultra-black RTV to seal the gaskets? The mating surfaces are a little rough from corrosion. Thanks.
