    engine chokes and dies after running 30 min

    Hi all, got a 1979 merc 470 runs well...for 30mins or so then it starts to choke, gasp, cough then dies...sometimes with a backfire....Also after about 30 minutes running when I hit trim tabs it bogs the motor down but trim tabs work fine before the 30 minute mark.... Temp gauge never goes...
