    My block is drained, right?

So, interesting about this... It isn't mentioned in the manual. @Lou C , do you have a link for the tsb (iirc it was a VP tsb, not merc)? I did this a few times, and never had water come out. I also don't see what's going to freeze in there. It's a huge space that appears like it should drain...

    Fuel starvation conundrum

@Scott06 likes to dump some out and see if it lights on fire easily. Never tried it but makes sense. I also just use the sniff test. I also use the shawshank method of using old fuel, mix it a gallon or 2 at a time with fresh stuff and throw it in the truck/lawnmower (the chainsaws and german...

    My block is drained, right?

Point being there shouldn't be any water in the block, I'd rather know that than gamble on AF getting to where it's needed at the proper ratio

    My block is drained, right?

Well... Who knows what the ratio will be at that point, given that I don't know what I'm adding it to. I'd like to know if there's actually a problem. Now I'm curious. I don't think I'll have time tomorrow (rainy today) but I may just refill and redrain the whole system in a couple of weeks. No...

    Winterization difficulty

You removed the engine but kept the drive on?

    My block is drained, right?

No, didnt do that. Figured that it wouldn't really matter. If it's clogged that badly then what can i do about it? Probed best I can, blew out with air. If there's a clog, it would have to be solid on both sides of the drain. If I REALLY want an answer, I could also just fill the block back up...

    My block is drained, right?

I have those picks. I think I own everything that HF stocks. But no resistance with them or the 12g romex strand that I was using either.

    My block is drained, right?

Well, gave it another shot today. Nothing. Probed, blew air in there, bow up/down. @Lou C , good thought, will do that next year @Scott Danforth , this was the last plug pulled, after I disconnected the hose at the WP. Don't think there's much more to do at this point. If there's water still...

    My block is drained, right?

I don't have the 90's on mine, and was using a piece of bent wire. I got plenty out of the port side. Guess the question was more if the drains were connected (or how closely connected) they are. I'll pull that drain again and give it another shot, try some compressed air. Going to hold off on...

    My block is drained, right?

Naw, it was in there a few inches, wiggled around, repeated a few times. Felt like I hit the back wall of the water jacket. The other side had a bit of sediment that didn't take much effort to poke out.

    Alpha 1 drive quick question

Yeah, that and the fact that I have a 40 year old boat and won't buy a new one. Mine just fell out.

    My block is drained, right?

On a roll yesterday. Once again drained my neighbor's VP (I'm waiting for it to freeze so I'll get the boat for cheap...). Changed my oil in the fall! Also drained my 4.3, and didn't get a drop out of the starboard block drain. It was the last drain and I for sure got in there with a wire. PS...

    Strange exhaust behavior during winterizing

The -50 AF will solidify well below -50'. @Lou C knows all the temps. Those single point drains seem like a TERRIBLE idea. I got a ton of water out after thinking that my block drain had drained when I rodded it out yesterday.

    Alpha 1 drive quick question

i think you'd be hard pressed to freeze that upper without other damage. There's a lot of room in there and you'd have to have water all the way up there. Unless it was fully submerged and froze solid. Which i guess is possible. But otherwise just epoxy in a 50 cent piece. Mine's held for at...

A ½ dollar fits that space perfectly. Ironically using actual money costs less than the actual part

Best way to get to my boat?

So dude no showed me today (texted that he had an emergency in richmond...) after waiting 2 months just to get him out here. Grrr. We'll see how he handles the make up appointment as to whether he was FOS. I'd like to get the infrastructure in place in case I come up with other ideas down the...

Best way to get to my boat?

That would get killed I think in short order, but maybe a link to specifically what you're talking about? Thought about that, but didn't know exactly how to go about that, where it would be mounted, what kind of materials I'd need, etc. But yeah, any specific ideas would be welcome. Also...

2012 3.0L TKS runs great with muffs, but slow on lake...

You're not actually checking the timing--you're (sort of) checking to see if you have spark. You can put the light on each individual wire, and it becomes very obvious if it isn't firing consistently. You had mentioned the occasional yellow spark at idle--that shouldn't happen, and may get...

Best way to get to my boat?

I have my lift maybe 50 ft from shore, stand alone. Currently I walk out to it, not usually a huge deal but getting to be less pleasant towards the end of the season. One of my jetties needs to be rebuilt, and I'm trying to figure out a way to incorporate something to get out there. 1. Jetty is...

Mercruiser 3.0 started twice perfectly overfilled the gas now won't start

Are you getting spark? You're either getting too much fuel or not enough fire sounds like. If spark, continue trying to start with the throttle wide open, otherwise might need a carb rebuild. Did you do the stringers and transom as well?
