    What horsepower is my 1978 Johnson Model#140TL78C

    I bought a 1978 Ranger this spring and the Johnson Motor cover has JAVELIN 85 decaled on it. But The previous owner told me it is a 140 h.p. The model # of the Engine is 140TL78c and the Serial # is J4990328 PLEASE HELP if you can.Thank You, Chris Bartelt

    1978 Johnson 140 hp barely trickles water out

    I just bought this LEMON and was told ran good last yr......Yeah Right.... Anyway when I got it out on the river it tricckled water out of the hose coming out of the motor. After I noticed it I headed in and the engine power stayed at about 5 mph at full throttle. Had to go about a half mile...

    1978 140hp Mercury water pump needs changing

    I'm about to buy a 1978 merc. 140 hp and was told it needs a water pump replaced and it costs about $30.00. Is this price correct? Is it fairly easy to change these yourself or do I need to take in to a repair shop.. Any help would be awesome.Thanks for your time, Chris Bartelt
