    Time for a dumb question Merc 1000...it's not a repair

    When out on the water if I feel the need to pull my motor up, is there any good way to do that? it's a 100 hp inline 6 no power trim or any of that fancy stuff. What I usually do is drop it once I put it in the water and tilt it back up after I trailer it. I've been just taking the weight off...

    So 2 part question... 1. what exactly is the black lever on the throttle for? I thought it was to adjust Idle... 2. shifting into forward is a nice firm catch, even if it don't feel pretty I have a feeling it's ok... In reverse however it starts whining and I have to take the throttle about 1/2...
