i have a 1985 40hp evinrude vro (bypassed) new fuel pump, new spark plugs,
rebuilt and cleaned the carbs, new fuel lines and hoses.
It Starts and runs with the throttle up but has a rough idle and wants to die.
It also is spiting fuel out the front of the carbs. Do i need reeds?

it starts after choke primmer but wont stay running at all.
I have cleaned and checked carbs, changed the fuel pump, fresh gas and oil,
what else should i check?
bought this outboard used and need a manual but have no idea what year and model. serial # is 1013572 model # is F40FLCO but i suspect these may be wrong. i know it is a vro engine thanks for any help.
