    Installing Bravo3 Sterndrive

Hi, thank you for your responses. I am using an engine hoist on wide plywood sheeting on the ground, as the casters do not run well in the boatyard to position the drive in place and I have a pry bar to level the bell housing. I will probably withdraw the sterndrive and re-check, clean the...

    Installing Bravo3 Sterndrive

Hi, Apologies next question… I have managed to install the Sterndrive up to the point where I have about a 1 inch gap but it doesn’t seem to want to go further. I have tried to raise or lower and different manoeuvres to push it further but it appears to stop at this point, my guess it’s at the...

    Installing Bravo3 Sterndrive

The straps on the trim cylinder bars is a good idea, I will try that. I have re-checked and the alignment is slightly off (engine too high) as the alignment tool is not going fully home. It looked o/k at the time but that was before I knew that it had to go to the first shoulder. So, with a...

    Installing Bravo3 Sterndrive

I am unable to raise the rear unfortunately as the boat is a cruiser and not on a trailer. DTS controller all in Neutral.

    Installing Bravo3 Sterndrive

“The drive shaft isn't making it into the coupler” .. This was my initial thought. Forgive me as this is all new to me. The alignment goes in and out easily and I have the tell-tale spine marks all the way around. But.. I will need to recheck again as I am not sure now if the spline marks go all...

    Installing Bravo3 Sterndrive

Hi, I wondered if someone can help please. This is the first time I have tried installing a Bravo 3 Sterndrive and it seems to be stuck at the point shown in the photo. I cannot seem to get it passed the threads although everything “appears” to be lined up and well greased. This is a brand new...

    Bravo 3 Dribble valve.

Dumb question alert. – newbie to Mercruisers. All new Bravo 3 installation and I just need to install the sterndrive. However, before installing the sterndrive the manual states “With the gear lube monitor cap removed; to purge air from the system, push in on the dribble valve stem until the...

Bravo 3 steering sensor and Trim sender and trim wires, DTS adaptor cables?

Just an update on this if I may. On the engine harness there are connections for the Digital Trim and the Steering Sensor and the plugs fit all o/k. What tended to throw me was the colour of the wires on the engine harness connectors is different to the senders’ connectors. Time will see.

Bravo 3 steering sensor and Trim sender and trim wires, DTS adaptor cables?

BTW ... the 14pin connector is the only connector / cable that connects the engine to the Dash Board.

Bravo 3 steering sensor and Trim sender and trim wires, DTS adaptor cables?

Hmmm .. that's where it gets confusing, The cables all came with the rigging kit and the DTS controller as a package. there is a cable that is connected at the dash that connects the 14 pin connector from the engine to a DTS junction box. This cable also has all the DTS controller connectors and...

Bravo 3 steering sensor and Trim sender and trim wires, DTS adaptor cables?

Hi, probably a long shot but worth asking as I have spent hours searching for answers. I have installed a new Mercruiser V8 6.2l engine with Bravo 3 Drive and struggling with 2 connections. The Engine has Smartcraft instruments and a DTS Console. And most of the connections are fairly...

Bravo 3 engine installation / alignment

Hi, just an update on this if I may. I ended up making a gantry over the engine and used a 1 ton chain hoist and lifting strap. This gave me plenty of time to adjust the position of the hoist to suit, as I only needed to raise a few millimetres. I raised it just enough to get the coupler near...

Bravo 3 engine installation / alignment

Hi, my guess is I need the shim kit (washers and spacers) as I am nearly at the bottom of the front mount adjustments . Still have a couple of turns but probably this would be necessary for final alignment. Unfortunately the shim kit has to be ordered and here in the UK a long delay. I can get a...

Bravo 3 engine installation / alignment

Thank you.. that's interesting... Just to be clear this is a complete new engine and sterndrive package with rigging kit. The only difference from the drawing in the service bulletin is the fibre washer on the inner transom plate new design, has been replaced with a rubber moulding glued in...

Bravo 3 engine installation / alignment

This is a complete new engine and sterndrive install including new transom stringers etc- all measurements accurately measured according to the drawings and I don't think that even maximum / minimum adjustment on the front motor mounts would raise the rear of the engine near enough and I would...

Bravo 3 engine installation / alignment

Also .. If I take the strain with the hoist off the engine and tighten down the bolt / washer onto the spacer I assume this will lift the engine? Just didn't want to do that in case that was wrong.

Bravo 3 engine installation / alignment

Hi, thank you for your response. This is a completely brand new latest Bravo 3 install - and I haven't used the alignment tool yet as there doesn't appear any point at this stage as it looks too far off.

Bravo 3 engine installation / alignment

Hi, Just a follow up.. there is some confusion regarding a fibre washer and double wound lock-washer as one local engineer has mentioned. These weren't in the install kit and no mention in the install manual.

Bravo 3 engine installation / alignment

Hi wondered if anyone could help please. Trying to install the engine and I believe am missing something. Everything was lined up and the rear mounting bolts all installed and located into the bottom nut. The spacer is proud of the flywheel mounting fixing by some margin and there is a large...
