    I have a 55lb Bass Pro motor (PRW-T55/40B) that should have 5 forward and 2 reverse speeds. The 2 reverse and the 1st 3 forward speeds work fine, but then no increase when you turn to 4 or 5.     How do I adjust the timing on my 1999 8HP Johnson

    It won't run, it periodically backfires when I pull it. It has good strong fire on both plugs. I pulled the flywheel and things looked OK there. Please point me in the direction for setting the timing. I think it must be way out of time.
