    I need some help on this #@%^&*$ gasket!

    I am replacing the cylinder cover gasket on my 1976 Mercury 85hp due to water leaking around the spark plugs. I really don't want to have to do this again and want to do it right. Should I use some type of gasket sealant on this gasket? If so, which sealant should I use? I think the factory...

    1976 Merc 850 cylinder cover gasket

    I am replacing the cylinder cover gasket on my 1976 Mercury 85hp. Since there is a possibility of water leakage around the spark plugs [again] should I use sealant on this gasket? If so, what sealant should I use? I think the factory originally installed the gaskets dry, but don't know for sure...

    Water leaking from around spark plugs

    I have a 1976 Mercury 85 hp outboard that has water leaking from around one of the spark plugs. I looked through past posts and suspect that it may be a gasket problem...I sure hope so anyway. I'd like to get some opinions about whether this is the likely problem and about just how involved it...
