    Mercruiser 4000 controls differences/options

I'm replacing the dated 3000 controls and cables and ordered a 883710A03 but see the 8M0030551 says all inboards. Is there any reason I cannot use the 883710A03 controls in my sterndrive setup? This is one area I cannot find information about. As always, any and all help is appreciated

    Alpha Gen II trim question

So when I pulled the trim pump and wiring assembly I expected the outdrive to drop and fluid to pour from the trim lines that were now off the pump and in a bucket but the drive didn't move. I stood on it and nothing. Is there some kind of valve in line that I'm not seeing?

Opinion: Remove swim platform ladder that I 5200 down

I want to upgrade my ladder but the issue is I used 5200 in the bolt holed and under the mounting pads. 5200 on its own without hard compression can be removed without damage but I cranked down on the bolts with starboard and fender washers under the platform and I'm afraid of really hurting...

Salt Water in Alpha One Gen II Gearcase Repair/Replace?

As of march this year all the seals were replaced in my unit by my fathers friend. He quoted me one price then overcharged me and I supplied all the parts. This is the one and ONLY thing I have not done myself on the boat. Well I pulled the leg today to see why I couldn't get reverse(thinking my...

    Water separator thread size

I'm swapping my mechanical to a high flow and reliable electric and everything is hard line. I need to convert to 3/8 soft line so I need the NPT to barb size. Does anyone know the thread size for the water separator, OEM fuel pump and carb? Thanks in advance

    TBIV 4E26A V8 24S Module options

I cannot find this for sale anywhere. Do I have any other options? I'd like to test a different module and also have a spare. The motor is a 355 from late 2013 and is a repower. A V8 20 module was suggested to me due to a nice advance curve. Can someone chime in about that?

Loading up below 1300RPMs after hours of use.

Brand new Edelbrock 1409 600cfm. Merc 355 from late 2013. Engine has around 20hrs on it now. The entire engine had a tuneup earlier the year. Entire fuel system is new. Gas is clean. Water separator is clean. This only happens after about 1.5hrs of idling or after I let the boat sit for hours...

    What serpentine do I have?

The quicksilver tag says the motor is a 2013 355 but the carb cover states 0f365642. There are no markings on the belt itself and I'm having a helluva time tracking down the belt I need. I could take it out and measure it but everything is still loaded with fiberglass dust and I don't want to...

    Merc 3000 control questions

So the 3000 box seems very flimsy and poorly made like it will break into crappy little plastic pieces. Is this normal? My father has a 4000 series shifter side only(the hidden piece isn't there) Will the visible side of the 4000 snug onto the 3000 control box hidden behind my gunnel panel?

Where does #14 in this diagram go?

It's obviously loose in the bellhousing. I think it sits on the drive and bumps up against the bellows retaining ring?

Swivel shaft nut rusted horribly. Swivel shaft corroded in gimbal ring

I didn't know how bad this was until I tore the gimbal apart and cut the two holes in the side of the transom assembly. I thought it would turn out to be the gimbal ring but it's the steering arm. The swivel shaft just spins in the arm. I can't get the nut to budge for the life of me. You can...

Lower Shift Shaft Seal Stuck or not supposed to come out?

I knocked the top seal out and immediately noticed I was sent the wrong seals. What I was sent is 5/8 instead of 3/4 but the pics I've seen show the new ones pressed in the bottom. I whapped it with a drift pin twice and it didn't budge. Does this come out? The top side looks like it's solid but...

Anyone familiar with monterey? I have a 225 SCR Open Bow

I acquired it and of course the people forgot to mention a few small details. The left floor is rotten, there are no stingers as this is a rigid hull boat but 3 of the bulkheads are rotten and the left side of the transom needs attention. Gimbal ring is shot All is not lost though. The interior...

    What is this fitting for?

Yamaha Exciter 220. Why is it there and why is it leaking? What does this thing do? It is not exhaust or for the bilge pump. If I plug the boat and put in 15 gallons of water, it comes out of this hole. When I come back from a day of boating now there is about 45 gallons of water in the...
