I seem to be able to set the gearing fine on dry land (and run the engine with the muffs) but as soon as I pop it into some water, I seem to loose reverse gear totally and am underpowered on forward. Any suggestions (other than sinking the thing)?
I do not seem to be able to get any water appear from the tail-tell connector on my Merc 500 (Serial 3238775). I have replaced the powerhead to leg gasket, impeller etc. but seem to get more exhaukt come from the pipe than water. Any sguuestion? For information, the Water pump to power head...

I am having difficulty aligning the powerhead to neutral on my Merc 500 50HP Serial 3238775. Setting the gearbox to neutral was easy but whilst I can occasionally get all my gears I lose have to sacrafice full throttle on forward. The reverse gear has been troublesome for a number of years now.
