    76 Evinrude, 135 changing seals behind the prop

    leaking milky oil by the prop. Figured it was the lower seal. Looking at my manual I don't see any specific directions to changing these out. I s there any concerns or special procedures I need to go about to replace these?

    9.9 Evinrude - what year is it? 10724A is on the plate

    It needs the seal changed by the prop, I need to know what year first it is. Then I have a 76 evinrude that is a 135 hp. I have a manual for it think I can follow the same directions for the 9.9 as the bigger one for this job? The serial number is E0006563

    Yesterday I found the key sheared so I replaced it (OEM) tightened it (my tourqe wrench only goes to 100psi so I took my large 1/2" rachet and got another quarter turn on the nut. I also spent about 30 minutes with rubbing compound on the shaft cone and the flywheel cleaning both surfaces up...

    Evinrude 1976 135 683D back fired and I just put in new plugs

    So I installed the new boots on the plug wires for two cylinders, have good spark on all 4. Only worked on one at a time so I feel the chance of crossing wires is slim, I will look at my manual again to prove that. Earlier with the older plugs I could hear some misfire when attempting to start...

    Evinrude 1976 135 spark problems 683D

    With the plugs in I get NO spark. I take the plugs out (leave one in with a sparker) and I get spark. I've taken my battery down to have it tested and showed good and charged. I don't have a tool to tell if its turning faster that 250 rpm though. I was thinking I would need to adjust the points...

    Controler questions 1976 135 Evinrude - no spart

    What do the knobs do on this controler? I understand the F & R and warm up lever and key what do the others do? The two on the bottom front and the one on the left, is it a kill switch?

    99 mercury 20 hp ele start quit working

    pull start works fine, engine easy to start. Ele start began to work inconsistantly then seems to have quit completely. New battery with good charge. I can hear the solonoid click but that's it.
