    G3 Boat

Stewart, I'm miles from a marine mechanic. There are no unmarked or hidden switches I can find.

    G3 Boat

There are 3 "live wells". The rear well is fairly obvious. It will fill and manually drain. It has a removable standpipe. The bow live well at the bow is not used. It is the live well immediately in front of the helm that is most confusing. 1) it seems to fill for no reason. 2) once full...

    kicker location

Many thanks to all the replies. Very helpful. Port side install for kicker turned out the best option.....depth sensor mounted on the port transom. Helm is on starboard, so port location seems to help the weight balance. Experimenting with using the 150hp to troll (it works OK, but 4...

    G3 Boat

G3 boats are by Yamaha. I have a 2005, 18' model I bought. Great boat, but I have questions. Yamaha hasn't been very helpful. Does anyone have a G3 boat of that vintage? It has 3 live wells/aereators, and I can't figure them out. Maybe it's just me. I have other questions if anyone knows...

    kicker location

UPDATE: After working with a 9.9 Merc 4-stroke kicker for 12 years and thinking that is the only way to go, on this "new" boat with a Yammy 150 4-stroke, (and I cannot believe I'm saying this)...the kicker doesn't touch the water. The Yammy starts trolling at 1.6mph and I've been able to fine...

    Gauges don't work

Thanks to you all. I have a MM, alligator clips, and some DC experience, so I have my work cut out. My dash pulls out, which I will do gently, and confirm connections, then start using the MM to confirm power to/from (ie POS & NEG) switches. If power to/from is good and no gauge reading, it...

    Gauges don't work

Just bought the 2005 G3 boat (19') with 150hp Yamaha. Motor and boat come from Yamaha as a package. Neither the tilt gauge nor the volt gauge seem to work. Where to start with diagnosing? My first step will be to take the screws out of the instrument panel and lift out the entire panel for...

    connecting 2 batteries

I have a 2-battery system with a PERKO switch. Using very heavy gauge battery cables, it is difficult to jam everything inside the little PERKO. How to connect 3 positive (RED) battery cables that will go to the same PERKO bolt connector so I'm just putting one cable onto the PERKO instead of...

    Lowrance GPS wiring manual

Replacement boat came with an older Lowrance GPS that doesn't work. It won't run on. Discovered two wires were cut with no match plugged into the board. They're both black. Anyone (Lowrance isn't very helpful) have an older Lowrance GPS manual that identifies the wires coming out the back...

    kicker location

Prior 19' had the kicker on port. Replacement boat best location is starboard. Does starboard vs port side kicker location present a particular problem? Or, like port pushing to starboard, does starboard push to port? So it's just a steering compensation issue?

Electric fuel pump on oil injection Mercury

I searched other posts and found no hits. My 1988 100hp Mercury oil injection motor is a gem. I rebuilt the mechanical fuel pump (twice, following the directions to the T), and don't trust the rebuild. A new or reconditioned (China?) one is $$$. To solve what seems to be a fuel supply...

    Leak in aluminum boat

Did you spray inside and outside? What results do you think you would get with spray or applying sealant outside only? The rivets and seams on my boat are NOT accessible from inside without taking the whole boat apart.

    Leak Repair: GluVit, 3M5200, G/Flex650

I apologize for posting this here and Tinboats.net. My TinBoats post didn't show up, so I'm hoping to get answers here. I need replies from those with experience sealing leaks in riveted aluminum 20' boat. My 20' SeaNymph Great Lakes Special sits on a hoist behind our house until I motor out...

    100hp falters

Seems you may be correct. Where is the anti-siphon valve?

    100hp falters

    - Where is the unit-siphon valve? - Fuel line has been 5/16 for years. Fuel filters are SeaWay(?) marine grade -- visually gas flows freely while running. Which is what you call the "fuel pickup pipe?" Is that the tube in the tank? Mine is accessible only if I remove the flooring cover...

    100hp falters

This is not a test. My need is real. My 100hp runs great at 3500-4000 rpm for 20-30 seconds, then begins to falter. I don't adjust the throttle and squeeze the bulb 3-4 times and the motor revives for 15 seconds, then the cycle repeats...falter, squeeze, run, falter, squeeze, run.... I -...

    100hp falters

I have some spare new, black, marine grade fuel line, and that's any easy swap. Any ideas on how to check the fuel tank pickup other than removing the floor? I used compressed air to blow back into the fuel tank, and there must be a check valve because I couldn't blow back, even with...

    100hp falters

I understand that is how the fuel pump works, sort of a push-pull on the 2 diaphragms in the fuel pump. However if the compression test is good ( about 120 all around as I recall from last Spring) how else could crankcase pressure fall?

    100hp falters

This is helpful. Sorry for the long reply, but I'm trying to narrow thing down. Yes, it would seem there is either an air leak somewhere, or something is blocked. Where is the anti-siphon valve? My 18 gallon tank is under the floorboards that are screwed down to hull braces, and the...
