    New Impeller now it's not shifting into gear?

    1985 merc blackmax 175hp I had someone replace the impeller and it no longer shifts into gear. What could have gone bad? When I looked it over there was a pin that wasn't replaced in the shaft I replaced it but still wont go into gear.

I put gas into the cylinders by taking out the plugs, it fires right up.I put a new fuel filter on an all new hoses from the motor hook up down to the tank.
