Connect alternator outputs of two motors to battery bank

Battery isolators supply a sense terminal for this exact reason.

Connect alternator outputs of two motors to battery bank

Ever jump started a car? Ever notice how that when you jump start it successfully and both engines are running, nothing blows up, smokes, or fails even if you leave the jumper cables connected for quite some time to more rapidly charge the vehicle with the dead battery? Nothing different here...

Strange frequency and voltage on paguro vte 4000 diesel generator *with video*

I'm not sure what your definition of a "sensitive" load is, but most every modern electronic device will have a switching power supply. As such, they are highly immune to variations of input voltage and frequency. These little miracles can take garbage in and create pure DC out. 265 volts is...

The issue is that one still has to pay to watch it. Broadcast television requires a wire and a TV. That's all. No internet. No email address, contact info, and financial data sitting on someone's server ready to be hacked.

    New Stuff on Vehicles likes/dislikes

Thankfully it is a small 2 lb. or so gel-cell battery like is found in emergency lighting. the weight of the battery and the servo are pretty much offset by not having a cable, bracketry, and all associated linkages. Aside from a few idiosyncrasies, both of these MB SUVs we own is just as easy...

    Mercruiser Setting Timing on 3.0L

Glad you've got it figured out, Dan! The bride and I have been "up in the holler" enjoying a much-needed vacation totally disconnected from the world, and it felt great! We're looking forward to hearing about your adventures.

    New Stuff on Vehicles likes/dislikes

At least Mercedes Benz thought about the potential issue of a dead battery and an electronically shifted (via a servo motor actually moving things that a cable could just as well do) by having a smaller battery that has only one purpose: moving that servo out of park in case the main battery is...

I sure hope they decide to return to free broadcast television with this, just like all of the foundation the whole ST universe was built upon. Otherwise, that will be yet another series that scads of die hard fans won't see.

    Mercruiser Setting Timing on 3.0L

There will be no issue with the differences. Looking at the old gasket, every spot between cylinders were bad. I think you'd be well right to have the head milled and verify correct timing upon reassembly. That's what we call down in these parts, "Blowed up big time!"

    Mercruiser Setting Timing on 3.0L

Note the old gasket is a FelPro. I don't know that Mercruiser used those OEM, so that's likely a replacement. Might want to look up the part number just for kicks to see if that's a marine set - not that if it isn't this would be the cause for that blowout. For sure the other spot was on it's...

Ford 302 engine oil dipstick - 1995 OMC Cobra, Ford 302, VolvoSX

I figure the likes of Mercruiser and Volvo-Penta had the smart engineering figured out. On an automobile, that's all you got if it's not an air-fluid heat exchanger. It would be more effective than nothing if you put it in the block cooling loop, but since it's easy to plumb into the seawater...

    Mercruiser Setting Timing on 3.0L

Now that I think about it... I wonder if it was just a copper colored spray paint that I experienced on that head gasket. I've never had to go back into anything I've used the copper coat on. It either worked fine (my '05 Jeep Liberty CRD is still in the stable) or I eventually sold the...

    Mercruiser Setting Timing on 3.0L

Thanks for the warning - I'll have to remember that. I have seen on one head after years of assembly (2.4L L-6 Datsun engine) the same thing happens on a copper coated composite head gasket. It sure was a PITA to clean, but man, that thing sealed well! That's the first time I had ever seen...

Ford 302 engine oil dipstick - 1995 OMC Cobra, Ford 302, VolvoSX

Factory included oil coolers that I have seen are directly inline with the incoming water line feed as it enters the boat, just like the (usually included in most outdrives) power steering fluid cooler. As for a heater, the two boats that I've owned which had onboard hydronic/electric water...

    Flux Marine Outboard Engines . . .

Yeah, you're right. We electrical engineers rarely know anything about electricity, so please enlighten us. I guess you don't realize there is a ginormous difference between the amount of power required to turn a loaded alternator and an unloaded one? Turning it unloaded with the field winding...

    Mercruiser Setting Timing on 3.0L

Yep - as I suspected like Scott wrote, but the manual seemed to indicate otherwise - you'll want to put sealant on the bolt threads. The only reason I have recently used the specialty sealant is because I have it; like Scott wrote, Permatex 2 will work fine... I've never had an issue using that...

Ford 302 engine oil dipstick - 1995 OMC Cobra, Ford 302, VolvoSX

The oil in a boat engine gets very much hotter than an automobile engine, unless you're going up a 10 mile long grade towing a caravan with the accelerator matted the whole way every trip. Every I/O boat I've ever had shows around half the normal oil pressure after a spirited run, then took...

    Flux Marine Outboard Engines . . .

It's real easy to figure it out. 1KW = ~1.34 HP, plus whatever loss in conversion efficiency there is, which can vary greatly. It takes very little power to turn that generator, especially once up to speed. A little econobox car engine could likely do it. Now, turning it with the normal load...
