    Help I have a 1971 Mercury 7.5 serial number 3018727 that has no spark.<br /> <br />I checked the points and they are properly gaped. I disconnected the kill switch. How do I test the stator and coils?

    4.5 Mercury engine year /cooling

    Serial number 4871403<br /><br />When I run the engine at idle just steam and a slight spray emits from the small water tube. At about 1/2 trottle a steady stream of water pumps out. Is this normal?
