Is Too Much Power A Bad Thing?

Re: Is Too Much Power A Bad Thing? Thanks, Sea Rider. The guy I am buying from has extended the rope ties so that he can attach the steering bar forward. I have attached a pic of his setup. He says he glued them on. I want to do the same so that I can sit forward as well. I have contacted a...

Is Too Much Power A Bad Thing?

Re: Is Too Much Power A Bad Thing? The steering bar comes with a wheel and the seller claims there is a remote box (I assume this is for throttle control and gear shifting), but he didn't send pictures of that. It was on an 11 foot Caribe and supposedly in perfect working order along with the...

Is Too Much Power A Bad Thing?

Hey Guys. I am new to boating and recently bought an 2.8 Meter (9ft 3in) fiberglass RIB. I found a 15 hp outboard with a steering bar that I am thinking of purchasing. The boat is rated for 10 hp, but when I called the manufacturer (JP Marine, here in San Diego, he said the 2 stroke 10 hp and 15...

    Control Box

Hello, I am looking at a 15 hp Evinrude that the owner thinks is a 1985. He is selling it along with a steering station and I hope to put both on an inflatable RIB. I am curious what type of control box I need (I assume this will control the throttle). I have seen so many and with so many...

    Crossbar Steering System

I am curious if anyone knows the value of a used crossbar steering system. I'm looking for a 1980's Evinrude/Johnson 15 HP outboard and found one for sale, but it comes with a crossbar steering system. I hadn't considered buying one, but it looks pretty cool. The guy is asking $900 for both, but...

    RIB Storage Via Lifting Points?

Re: RIB Storage Via Lifting Points? What are the hull's underneath lifting slings? Does this RIB have them? What value would you give this RIB? Owner says it has only been used 3 times.

    RIB Storage Via Lifting Points?

I am new to boating, so please forgive my ignorance. I am looking at a used 9.5 ft fiberglass rib and have some questions regarding storage. I have heard mixed opinions about storing while deflated and wondered if there was a different way I could go about it. I live in a condo and I am very...

    Mercury 9.8 hp?

Re: Mercury 9.8 hp? I am driving 60 miles into Mexico to buy this RIB tomorrow. The seller only speaks Spanish, and my Spanish isn't that great so it's a little hard to communicate details. The seller isn't sure of the year, but the picture shows it is a JP Marine/Yacht Series. I couldn't find...

    Electric Pump

I'm looking for an electric pump for use on a 10 ft rib. I see a wide array of pumps available ranging from $8 to $300. It would have to be DC adaptable and hopefully either completely fill or get really close to filling the tubes all the way. Any suggestions?

    Mercury 9.8 hp?

Re: Mercury 9.8 hp? Long shaft? I don't think that is what I need. I plan on putting it on this:

    Mercury 9.8 hp?

Re: Mercury 9.8 hp? Wow. 15 hp for only 4 more pounds. Do I have that right? This is what I plane on using on: I cannot find any info on this particular RIB as it was only made for a year or two. I don't think 75 pounds would be an issue. Do you?

    JP Watercraft Yacht Series

I see a 9 or 10 ft rib (seller isn't sure) advertised on Craigslist. The picture shows a "JP Marine Yacht Series." I found a couple references to this brand/model but they are very different from the one in the ad. Does anyone know anything about them?

    Mercury 9.8 hp?

Found this for sale 60 miles away. The seller tells me it is a 9.8 hp, 2 stroke but he doesn't have any idea of the year. I have heard these Mercury outboards are among the lightest available. I would really like the 9.8 hp, but I cannot lift heavy objects due to a health condition. Any idea of...
