    Mercury Classic 50 Lower Unit

    Rebuilding the lower unit on a 1983 Classic 50 for a friend. Serial number is 06420938. Was wondering if anyone had the repair manual for it and would be willing to scan and email the lower unit section to me. I hate to buy a manual to use one time. Thanks for any help.

    Poppet Valve Plate

    My poppet valve plate was corroded and would not seal. Found one at a bone yard today. The spring retainer is taller on the new one than on the old one. Part number is the same, except the original has C1 after it. Part number 65664. Will the one from the bone yard work?

    Connecting Rod Difference

    I had to replace 2 rods for my Merc 175hp, 2.4l. The rods I received are bigger on the small end, and weigh about 22 grams more than the original rods. Is this going to cause any problems? Thanks
