    thanks to those who answered my water pump problem. it now works. now i have an other problem. i put a new shift linkage in and i have adjusted and adjusted but i can't get it to shift right. is something special i should be doing? it's not quit in gear at low rpm but at high rpm it works good...

    i have a 50 merc serial# 2742418. i don't know the year for sure. i think late 60's. i was river fishing and i hit bottom, i broke my prop and the e-clip on the shifter shaft went. i bought some new parts for it and decided while i had it apart i should put in a new water pump. now everything...
