    Campion Victoria/Explorer Info...

Since there is very limited information on the 1991-2006 Campion Victoria/Explorer model of boat (the one with the hard top/cabin) available anywhere, I'd like to post what I have on the subject. Feel free to correct or update any info here. I DON'T CLAIM IT TO BE 100% ACURATE!!! Use at your own...

    Hyper spark???

Yup, that's what it was. I moved the clamp 7" or so away from where I had clamped it originally and it was bang on. Thanks peeps! 👍

    Hyper spark???

My guess it's inductive. I'll try and clamp the wires closer to the plug instead of the distributer.

    Hyper spark???

    I'll try that today!

    Hyper spark???

Can someone explain to me why I'm getting a hyper spark or ignition pulse on #1 & #6 wires coming off the distributer? I have a 1996 4.3LX A1G2 with thunderbolt 4 ignition. What I mean is, I clamped my timing light to #1 wire and at idle 700 RPM (tach reading), it shows 900+ RPM with the...

1998 15HP 4-Stroke Water in engine oil after impellor change?

So, in the video, the outboard has had the new thermostat installed for a few months now and it's been running fine all summer but I'd like to get an opinion on the tell-tail streams. Do they seem normal? Engine is up to temperature btw.

I checked the RPM accuracy of the analog (dash) gauge against my timing light. The dash gauge was showing 100 RPM more than the timing light at 3000 RPM (timing light showed 2900 RPM vs the gauge's 3000 RPM reading). The same difference at 3500 RPM. I was a little apprehensive to run it higher...

1998 15HP 4-Stroke Water in engine oil after impellor change?

Thanks for the insight but I have done all this already. Since this is just my trolling motor, it doesn't very often get run at WOT. Unless my main breaks down. Thankfully this has only happened once in 7 years. :)

1998 15HP 4-Stroke Water in engine oil after impellor change?

I guess I should update this thread... The thermostat was the culprit. I've been out trolling with it all summer and the oil is perfect. Not milk or discoloration of any kind. Thanks for the info peeps!

I have power assist with the Mercruiser and the trim tab zinc helps to keep a neutral center on the steering. I did have the flat one on it and it turns hard to port if I let go of the wheel. The fin helps stay centered.

Not yet. I'd like to make sure my tach is accurate before I try it. I did push it to 4500 briefly and it went there no problem. Seemed like it wanted to keep going.

Well what a difference! The wife and I went for a rip today with a full tank of fuel and some picnic supplies. We also had the dinghy with us too. Wasn't a heavy "fishing trip load" by any means. 1st thing I noticed was the boat seemed to track a lot better going through a "No Wake Zone". Very...

Going for a rip tomorrow. I had to clearance the trim tab as the prop just nicks it. I have about 3/8" clearance now. I hope that's enough.

No limiter that I know of. Smart tabs would be nice, but maybe later though.

No, it's not adjustable, it just has the cylinder switch at the back. I guess I could hook up the light and then set up my GoPro and watch it through the app. Thanks for the suggestion. 🙂

My other option would be to hook up my timing light which is a pain to read while at speed for obvious reasons 🙃

Well I bit the bullet and picked up a slightly used Solas Rubex HR4 14-1/4" x 17" 4 blade Stainless Prop (with merc hub). Guy bought it last month to try on his welded aluminium boat with a 115hp merc, but it was too much prop for him. Got it for less than half of what it costs new so his loss...

I was thinking the same... it's off by 75 rpm or so at idle compared to my timing light but I've never checked at speed.

4500 rpm loaded. FYI, the boat had the largest I/O engine option when it was built. Other options were the merc 3.0 4cyl, and a small diesel. Also there was an outboard bracket option up to 200HP. The boat isn't a dog but I just want to see if I can improve things.
