Im and hour from the boat so it will be a bit before I can get the RPM. It’s been atleast a couple years with the tune up. It is carbureted. It may be just a coincidence that it started acting up after they reinstalled the motor but I believe the 2 are related I’m just not sure where to start.
It idles bad both warm and cold intermittently. Always runs strong otherwise down the lake. Problem always is idle and trying to get it in gear and then it dies. Doesn’t do it all the time though.
I have a 1998 mercruiser 305 and the engine was removed to repair some power steering issues and now occasionally it idles rough and dies when going into gear. Any ideas at what I should be looking for? Thank you.
Thank you. It is actually a friends boat and it was cylinder 6. He has used it all summer and it just started acting up over 4th of July weekend so I don’t think it’s freeze damage.
One day on the water the boat starting missing and would only get on plane occasionally, but had this terrible tapping coming from the driver side of the engine. Sounded like a lifter tapping. Got it in the shop and pulled the valve cover to make sure the rockers were not working their way...
Do crownline boats have a delay switch for the alarm? (Doesn’t power it up for say 60 seconds) So when you turn the key on the oil sensor doesn’t automatically go off because it has no oil pressure until the engine is running?
Ok thank you. I understand the if. I do believe this is what’s happening, but the owner said he didn’t think it ever did that before and he bought this boat new.
Ok sorry for posting in multiple. I have narrowed it to the oil pressure switch. The switch has the tan/black wire. Is it a chance the alarm could be malfunctioning? Once I unhook the oil sensor it stops beeping. Then hook it back up and start it and it stops also. Only sounds while the key is...
I am unsure of the serial number. If I think of this correctly. The alarm goes off when there isn’t enough oil pressure, so when the key is just in the on position it would sense no pressure and cause the alarm to sound correct and then once started it sense pressure and shuts off. The alarm has...
I am working on a crownline that has the alarm go off when the key is just in the on position but not running. When it’s running the alarm does not sound. It is the oil sensor causing this (if I unhook it, it stops beeping). The owner said it just started this last week. I installed a new sensor...
