I am looking at a motor with a cowling that says mercury 50hp. I am told the serial number is 8421109.

Also, is there a good web resource to check serial #'s?
Is there anything to watch out for in these motors aside from normal items like compression, gear oil et all?
any and all opinions wanted!!
thanks so much.

Is there anything in particular to look for here? Is there any reason to steer clear of this year/hp/brand combo?
