    Gauges recommendation

Did you bench test each gauge after you removed them? You can do that to check the gauges out of the boat. I did my 1990 Bayliner gauges in my shop. I thought I needed to replace them. Cleaned up connections and bench tested and alas they all worked. (I replaced the backlights while I was at...

    Rookie move... ;) 75-ish Orrion

What kind of shape is the transom in? You do any core sample tests? If the floor and stringers are that bad most likely the transom is rotted as well.

    Replacing bow seat foam

electric carving knife is the ticket.. I never told the wife I used it but it worked nice. 🤣 check out some YouTube videos on restoring foam. Many just use a steamer to rejuvenate and get rid of the raunchy smell. Not sure that a couple pieces of wood on the old foam is gonna make a big difference.

1985 Bayliner 2750 Ciera Sunbridge Resto

Ah gotcha. I’ve seen them in the vertical wall on other models. not much progress. Had a tree fall on the house back in Feb. Kinda put a hold on boat rehab. And our weather up north has been wet and cold.

Looking and should sound good with that stereo setup! interesting placement of the hatch in the aft cabin. Don’t remember you doing that. Since it’s behind the helm seat can it be stepped on?

    Not so welcome anymore....

I’ve noticed that newbies drop in and ask questions looking for instant advice and haven’t really digested or research the entire forum. Unfortunately …..We live in that instant gratification society. what gets me is they often question the advice given. Or in some cases try and plead their...

    Rub rail insert

There are plenty of videos out there describing the job. You can do it if you do your research. Replacing the entire rub rail and mounting system can be done. As Chris said heat gun or soaking the rubber in hot water before installing will help greatly. Good luck. Keep us posted.

    Mercruiser power steering ball stud

Replacing the seals on my power steering control valve. I noticed the ball stud is held stationary by the long steering tube. It is a bit scratched. I was able to clean it up an polish it with Emory paper and fine sandpaper. It moves when assembled but it’s a bit tight. Does this ball stud need...

    Using poly resin without glass

Agree with capri…. 2 coats. Depending on type of wood you are using it’s gonna soak in pretty good. I did light sanding and acetone in between coats. I coated all wood when doing my seat rebuilding. I wanted to be sure the wood would last underneath the seat cushions.
