Ruh-Roh… a new gear case may be in order

As I said my buddy told me that he was going to order some snap ring pliers for me but I havent seen em. I'm not sure if he has done it yet. In the meantime I think Im going to order these. Would these work? They should definitely provide the leverage needed to get those retaining rings out...

    2026 NFL/CFB News and Nonsense

As a fan of the Broncos since 1977 I was pretty disappointed Sunday morning to see this: I don’t think they have much of a chance in the championship game. Not without Nix. He, along with some luck, kept them in the game against buffalo. Idk much about the backup QB. I’m sure he’s been working...

If there were a new outboard, there would probably not be a new shop. LOL

Ruh-Roh… a new gear case may be in order

Thanks! In the photo above from April I had a pair of long snap ring pliers that I borrowed from work. I had to make some extensions and was able to get those snap rings out of the broken blue gear case but for the life of me I couldn’t get them out of the white replacement unit. I was telling...

Ruh-Roh… a new gear case may be in order

So here’s how my concrete is being used. I haven’t touched the outboard since my last post about it back in April. Getting this shop finished up took all my time. I do have the proper pair of long reach snap ring pliers on order to get the gear case apart. Shop is pretty much done with the...

NO insects or spring birds this year.

We have a few different species of hawks around here. Big ones, small ones. I think the prevalent one is the Swainsons hawk. I think they have pretty much taken over from the Red Tails. We also have Magpies, Starling, Jays, tons of Robins, dove, quail, and this time of year we usually have at...

NO insects or spring birds this year.

I saw this young hawk last year scooting on the ground out in the pasture. I knew he didn’t look well. I caught him, no signs of injury so I put him or her back out in the pasture and let nature run it’s course. A couple days I found it dead. I think a concerned mama was watching me.

NO insects or spring birds this year.

Don't know about out there. Out here, both are plentiful! Also, the damn dandelions! They are off the hook this year. I noticed it last year that they seemed to be in abundance. I was told that they will go in cycles of like 4-5 years. IDK. But I know last year they were way more plentiful than...

What's your best "MacGyver it" boat, non-boat story?

Those are good! ^^^ I got one similar. My buddy and I were out riding our dirt bikes. We had nearly identical bikes, except his had green hand guards and mine yellow. Anyway he used to carry one of those spark plug socket/ screwdriver combo things in the crossbar pad on his bike. I had...

What's your best "MacGyver it" boat, non-boat story?

About 25 years ago I had a 14' Mirro-craft with an old 15hp Evinrude. A 1959 Fast-twin I think it was. It had the old pressurized tank. Anyway a friend and I took it to the upper part of the Sacramento river with the intention of just basically floating down, and pulling out several miles...

Ruh-Roh… a new gear case may be in order

So I’m back on this little project. Been so busy getting ready for watering season, changing/repairing sprinklers along with all the other honeydoos. Is there a rebuild kit available for these? One that comes with the necessary seals, gaskets, o-rings, etc? Like if I rebuild the top end on a...
