    On to next tasks …

Well my cylinder water gasket and water temp sensor repair went very well. I did notice a very small trickle of water coming from bottom corner of exhaust gasket. Its pretty small drip/trickle. How big a PITA is changing the two gaskets on the exhaust side? 125 2 stroke. Gaskets 3 and 4 In pic...

    Powertech Red-3 & Red-4

Everywhere I have read speaks very highly of Ken.

    Powertech Red-3 & Red-4

The RED does not mind running higher due to bit of cup.

    Powertech Red-3 & Red-4

TY for the reply. I spoke with same person at powertech and I got the answer I assumed. But any real world experience is also useful. The RED has a bit of rake and some cup. I have run the Rev 4 on other boats and it worked very well. As I expected a semi cleaver doesn’t run as well in higher...

    Powertech Red-3 & Red-4

Wondering anyone may have experience with the Powertech RED propellers, and if they mind running high in the water. Not surface piercing. I like them so far, but need to raise my outboard another set of holes to get rigging correct for my particular boating setup. TY

    Temp sender removal …

For the next poor soul that finds themselves in the same situation. I removed the cover to install new gasket due to very tiny leak. This let me make sure now part of the old sender/sensor was behind the plate in the water jacket (which it was, so good choice). I carefully hogged out the...

    Temp sender removal …

I got everything out. I will re-tap/chase the threads to clen them up prior to reinstall of the cover plate and install of sender/sensor.

    Temp sender removal …

Its something really only corrosion and machinists know. Stainless has various types as well. All metals have corrosive properties when in contact with one another. Its a matter of minimizing the issue. Stainless can also act as an insulator of sorts in electrical systems. While it conducts, it...

Prop Advice: Rev4 XP on 383 Stroker

I had a Baja Sport 210 that I built a custom 454 power plant. I ran a Rev 4 on an alpha sterndrive. It was a fairly unique craft as they only made the model 1-2 years with big block and alpha drive before moving yo bravo drive. I installed a drive shower to keep the drive unit cool. I never hole...

    Temp sender removal …

My guess and its only a guess, is most of these items are made of marine brass. Not typical 360 brass. I did not look at the part close enough. I am in replace mode. :)

    Temp sender removal …

Well would ya look at what I found laying all cute. Have to wait on new gasket to get here, but removing the cover was the correct choice. That is the end of the temp sensor circled.

I would like to take a moment to say thank you

I seldom find forums where folks try to help each other. There will always be disagreements and opinions on any given question or topic. Sincere thank you from the HillBilly

    Temp sender removal …

Square easy out and very carefully. It more ground it out than removed it. This is why I will pull the cover for a new gasket. It has a small leak anyway. This allows me to clean up the threaded hole for new sensor at the same time. I also get to see if any crap is inside the water ways. Just...

    Temp sender removal …

I managed to get it out, but since the gasket has a very small leak, I am going to pull cover. This lets me confirm no lil pieces of crap fell down removing old temp sensor, and at the same time fix the small leak. I like your suggestion. Whoever put the old one in decided it needed to be...

    Temp sender removal …

Its the temperature sensor/sender that sends signal to temp gauge. I tested the wiring a gauge and they are good. Either the sender went bad or was not making contact ground enough. I will replace it once the remainder of the old one is out. I have square easy outs to try. I sprayed it down with...

    Temp sender removal …

In an effort to get my temp gauge functioning …. Snap! Followed by bad words. Any suggestions on removing the remaining end of sender from motor? Tried easy out and stopped. Its in there snuggly. Going to try some kroil and soak and give it another try.

Second and Third attempts with our boat

Sooo … made it out a couple weeks back after making some repairs. Changed to a powertech Red4 13 1/4x19 and raised motor one set of holes. The Dauntless 18 has a stern cutout. Anywhoooo … better water conditions made things nicer. Made 4850 rpms on the Red4 13.25x19, but that was with trim in...

    First launch of our boat

Nope. Just “technician error“ on my part. I have done a lot of work on the boat. its a 125 2 stroke bluewater. 12v systems require a solid ground. Apparently my solid was not solid enough. :)
