    building a mini speedboat

it came with a wood deck. marine plywood but exposure to saltwater has eaten away at it badly. aluminum would weigh less as well. with 10 gallons of fuel, me, and a cooler, it is only 300 (ish) pounds

modifying a crank rated 9.9 into its shaft rated counterpart?

I have a 1974 evinrude 9.9 and a late model parts motor. I already swapped it from points to CDI and put the new carburetor on it. I read that there is a tuned exhaust pipe on later models. how do I tell if my parts motor has one? what else can be done

    building a mini speedboat

I agree. I am getting my boat re certified by the coast guard when I am done with my structural modifications which include trim tabs, bolting the deck to the transom, gussets for the transom. definitely sticking with my trusty 9.9 and not going over due to legal and safety reasons

I have always made inventions since I could hold a wrench. building a mini speedboat

I have the design drawn up in CAD. the aluminum deck will bolt in to the transom to provide the extra structure needed to support the weight . the original deck just uses tension/compression

    building a mini speedboat

I'm making a mini speedboat/fishing vessel as a fun project and want to build in a center console with steering wheel, seat and throttle. It is an Avon rover r2.80 with an evinrude 9.9 (shaft rated), inflatable keel, and electric trolling motor. I am also going to install fishing pole holders...

Avon Rover R2.80 SIB with evinrude 9.9. Will I Fly?

I just got my hands on a 1974 Evinrude 9.9 that I have retrofitted the later CDI ignition system onto. I also have the tuned exhaust and different carb from the later model as well. I got the boat to plane at around 18 knots on a perfectly calm lake with my evinrude 7.5 (roughly 6hp at the prop)...

    9.9 powerhead on a 7.5 chassis?

I recently got my hands on a johnson 9.9 powerhead from the late 1980s. my current outboard is a 1982 evinrude 7.5. the bolt pattern on both motors is the same, so I am wondering if I can fit the 9.9 powerhead to the 7.5 chassis to get a boost in power without adding a lot of weight. the boat...
