    Lithium ion batteries

Here is one example....if one cell was 0.5V higher than all the others, the BMS would stop ALL charging once that cell reached it's max voltage during charging and all the other cells would be 0.5V lower. Your total battery would be 1.5V lower than a full charge. Now that is an exaggeration as...

Proper Oil For Oil Bath Hubs

The oil bath versions used 75w-90 gar oil so 50W engine oil is actually higher viscosity.

    Lithium ion batteries

its 14.2 to 14.4V that is the magic number. 14.0 may not be enough to kick off balancing...which you need to have happen at least monthly.

    Lithium ion batteries

I just looked at the manual for that charger. I would personally use the custom profile, set the max voltage to 14.4V vs 14.6V and set the auto maintain to 13.2V to 14.4V if that is doable. You could potentially use the LiFePO4 setting with preset 2 but 14.6V is higher than I like to run. The...

    Lithium ion batteries

The charging profile for a lithium battery is actually very simple. Bulk charge until absorption voltage of between 14.0V and 14.4V. Then constant voltage until current drops to zero giving enough time for the batteries cells to balance. Once that cycle is completed, drop to a float voltage of...

WOW...you are pretty clueless! You don't know what you are talking about so maybe you should just stop!

    Lithium ion batteries

If your trolling motor uses 24V or higher voltage. Buy the lithium battery with the actual voltage you need instead of putting multiple 12V batteries in series. That way the battery balances itself. If I was buying new batteries right now, I would be buying Epoch batteries. They are more money...

    Lithium ion batteries

LIPO batteries are a different story. We are talking about LiFePO4 batteries here. LIPO(lithium polymer) batteries are the ones commonly used for Remote Control airplanes and cars. COMPLETELY different. Why would you use a NiCd battery charger on ANYTHING other than a NiCd battery. The voltages...

DeWalt corded drill DW106 Type-2 keyless chuck, bits slipping out?

My cordless drill is WAY more powerful than any corded drill I ever owned. I can drill through steel easily.

    Lithium ion batteries

You won't get a fire if you charge with a lead acid charger. The worst that would happen is that it wouldn't get fully charged. A lithium battery has a BMS which shuts off all charge current once a certain voltage is reached so you would never be able to damage them. Yes...they last WAY...

I would be going bigger than 21'

    Lithium ion batteries

Personally, I wouldn't do it. You would have to buy a dual purpose LiFePO4 and then you have to get a DC to DC converter to properly charge it otherwise you will burn out the alternator. If you are talking about getting some lithium batteries for a trolling motor set up, that's another...

Buy a new drill...go cordless this time.

    New Stuff on Vehicles likes/dislikes

I typically change idlers at 60K miles on all my cars. Was on a trip in Big Bend Texas during Covid and there was a Subaru sitting in the campground waiting a week for a new idler for his car...It was just over 60K miles! They are such a simple change on most cars...not worth having it cause a...

    Grease Seal to Spindle Fit

I use the exact same one. I will stick it in a large vise if it's too cold out. I have a couple of them for different types of grease and the cap keeps everything clean so you don't have dirt issues like those screw together ones with the zerk fitting.

    Battery cable

My 2025 150HP Mercury outboard on my Bennington tritoon came with 4 AWG wire. It has a 8 foot one way run approximately. The length of the run makes a difference. If its longer you use a larger wire. When I put in new battery cables in a boat, I always use marine tinned wire. If you make your...

    Grease Seal to Spindle Fit

First thing I do when I buy a new trailer is remove the Chinese bearings, replace with US made Timken and hand pack them. On my travel trailer, they get pulled and inspected every one to two years. On my boat trailer, I go a little bit longer since I only dunk my trailer once in the spring and...

    Grease Seal to Spindle Fit

When the hub comes from the manufacturer, the hub is not full of grease. It takes many many pumps of grease to eventually see it come out the front bearing even if the seal doesn't blow. I never ever use the LAZ-Lube method. I pull the hubs and manually pack them. No need to use it if you do it...

    Grease Seal to Spindle Fit

LOL...when I pull my bearings, I clean them...look for pitting and damage...repack them. I have seen the damage that using the LAZ-Lube system does. VERY easy to blow a rear seal and if you have drum brakes, you will have no idea. Kinda like this guy did...used LAZ-Lube on a warm day, spun the...

    Grease Seal to Spindle Fit

well no...you don't. Even Dexter, in their manual, says to hand pack the bearings. If you hand packed the bearings initially and then used the Laz-Lube method with the zerk, of course they will still appear packed since that is what you did initially.
