    2005 Mercury 50 ELPTO

Hi, Near the top of the rear part of the Powerhead to the right of top spark plug is a barbed hose connector with a cut hose on it. Trying to figure out if it is where a temp sender should go or a a drain hose or something else? Picture attached. Thank You

    1964 Johnson 60HP V4 Carb adjustment

Thank you. I should probably rename this or start a new thread since it is beyond my first question. I was able to get the motor running better but its still not right. I think it may be the coil and or within the Distributer. I will update this thread when progress is made. Thank You.

    1964 Johnson 60HP V4 Carb adjustment

Aligned the Magneto Pulley to the correct mark, (thank you for posting the pictures/instructions!), and re-adjusted the linkage and re-set the timing to the angle on side of block. Running much better, see video. I idled down as low as possible and in and out of forward and reverse. Took...

    1964 Johnson 60HP V4 Carb adjustment

I cleaned and adjusted the points and posted a video of low idle in gear. I know the throttle cam is not perfect. I was holding it to keep the idle as low as possible. Prior to cleaning/adjusting the points I noticed the Starboard side plugs were dry and sooty and the Port ones were wet. I...

    1964 Johnson 60HP V4 Carb adjustment

Much thanks! Compression was 80 on all cylinders but I want to recheck with a better battery. Battery is ok but not the best. Still studying but I think the distributor drive wheel seemed off a few teeth not to mention the 2 bolts that hold the arm from the distributer to throttle linkage...

    1964 Johnson 60HP V4 Carb adjustment

Hi, Motor was on old runabout and was able to get it started and seems to be circulataing water and shifting in and out of gear. It did seem to run a bit rough and had idle about 1500 RPM's. Looking for instructions on carb adjustment and or a service manual. Model: VXL-10S Serial Number...

2007 Twin BF50's all guages dead.

All gauges, Tach, Trim, and AMP meter went dead. Is there a fuse somewhere that can cause this? Its on twin motors. I did check 2 sets of fuses under the cowling but they were all fine. Thank You

    Nissan/ Tohatsu Oil Pump

Thanks for the Reply! Replaced the oil pump, fuel regulator and thermostat and ran 40 miles pushing about 2000Lbs. Ran very good but found another problem which existed before but was very intermittent. The problem is when the Engine is hot sometimes when you try to start its totally dead...

    Nissan/ Tohatsu Oil Pump

Agree, Thanks for the input! Do you think it could do other damage to the motor by running it with the lower compression air compressor? I was thinking of replacing the oil pump and fuel regulator first and then the air compressor. Thank You

    Nissan/ Tohatsu Oil Pump

Could both be related to slightly low Air Compressor Compression? I was thinking of honing the cly and replacing the rings/head gasket. After it had previously seized I was able to free it but did did nothing other than lightly sanding the cylinder with very light sand paper to the cylinder...

    Nissan/ Tohatsu Oil Pump

Well, I was able to show pressure of 74lbs and 84lbs on the air/fuel rail shader valves while idling using a bicycle pump with a gauge. That seems a tad low but now sure what what would calibrate to using the correct gauge. My plan is to replace the plugs, (I have run the oil line prime a few...

    Nissan/ Tohatsu Oil Pump

Trying to get the correct air/fuel pressure testing tool. In the mean time Reading thru the manual, (specifically pages on air supply system and fuel supply system), to understand how the air rail distributes air and to which component. Its unclear if the rail takes air from the compressor and...

    Nissan/ Tohatsu Oil Pump

I was thinking of starting a new thread but this is related. My immediate issue is trying to show compression on the fuel shrader valve without an expensive tool, (see below). I am thinking I need to do further diagnostics before buying a new Oil Pump. The short story is the Air Compressor...

    Nissan/ Tohatsu Oil Pump

I have read several posts about these oil pumps leaking. My motor ,(2006 Nissan NSD90B), and has oil pump leak. After research I believe the oil pumps are the same or similar to those manufactured for some of the oil pumps used in the Mercury Optimax line...

Hi, Looking at a used Tohatsu 140HP, (late 80's early 90's). I have had two 8HP Tohatsu''s which were the best motors I have ever owned. Curious what kind of feedback people have on these? Are they as Bullet Proof as the smaller Units? I currently have a Tired Yamaha 175 which has been a...

    Older DF25 Jet question

Hi, I have an older DF25, (I think early 80's). Runs but idles like a bear and I hope to be able to get it so do better. There is a jet you can remove from the outside top of the Carb and it looks as though it should have a tiny hole going all the way through, (from top to bottom), but it...

12' Sears Gamefisher Fiberglass "potato chip"

Just bought this rig with hopes of using as a dingy dock boat here in socal. It had some really cheap paint on the bottom of the outer hull and a few leaks and a poorly done patch on a 6'' crack in the bow. I removed the the cracked area cut out all the cracked material and re-glassed the area...
