    40HP Mercury Tilt Trim Switch Prob

    The up trim switch on the gear shifter works intermittenly. The down works everytime but not the up. How can I trouble shoot or maybe to correct the problem? I have sprayed contact cleaner in the switch itself but no change. The motor has rocker switch on it and works perfect there.

    40HP Merc Starts Sometimes (Can't Trust it)

    2001 40 HP Mercury (bought a couple weeks ago) motor looks like new. First 5 times out it started and ran like a champ. Next time out when I hit the switch to start nothing happened. Checked all connections, even changed to new battery still nothing. Brought it home, hooked to head phones...
