'84 90hp crossflow. J90 MLCRD. Reed valve filler blocks. part # 0322684. When?

Maybe mine aren't in bad enough shape to worry about. The used ones on eBay didn't look any better.

'84 90hp crossflow. J90 MLCRD. Reed valve filler blocks. part # 0322684. When?

How to tell it they are warped enough to replace? I'm installing new CCMS reeds with stuffers. These blocks are still soft and pliable. Some warping. I would need 4. There are two nos on eBay right now. That would leave me putting someone else's used filler blocks in. Suggestions? Thanks, Kevin

'84 90 hp Johnson Crossflow. Water coming from engine front. Ain't lookin good.

Unknown to me, in gear at idle, a cut down prop (13 1/2" to 9 1/4" in a barrel with a lid pushed more water out than a full blast hose in the barrel could keep up with. I was working on the dash. I heard a distinct "TICK!!". Loud enough to hear over motor noise. Quickly turned to see, no tell...

J90 MLCRD-'84 XFlow. Upper water tube grommet part #.

It is part #28. Marineengine shows a close up of the new part. I didn't know exactly what it looked like until I got it out. I was trying to pre-buy using part # alone. Once I had my hands on it, it matches the pics for part # 305145 exactly. Found an NOS on eBay. On the way. Thanks,

J90 MLCRD-'84 XFlow. Upper water tube grommet part #.

Neither marineengine.com nor brp parts show a grommet at the top of the tube. They both show a fitting at the bottom. Does anyone have a part # for the rubber fitting at the top of the tube where it goes into the inner exhaust housing mounting plate...

J90 MLCRD '84 crossflow--cold water from front of powerhead.

I believe the leak is coming from failed gasket at the little circle pad with the slot in it. On the exhaust adapter. There is still some crud on that spot I apparently did not get clean when I put it together. The tiny hole in the base gasket feeds a port in the block that is connected to a...

J90 MLCRD '84 crossflow--cold water from front of powerhead.

There is a small difference in base gaskets. According to BRP fiche, there is a small strip of material separating the inlet port from the tube next to it. Part #37 https://epc.brp.com/#/Evinrude%2f%2fJohnson/J90MLCRD_1984/MIDSECTION/J90MLCRD_1984/39468050121/y This strip is also present on all...

J90 MLCRD '84 crossflow--cold water from front of powerhead.

This is a fresh build, from the ground up. New everything. Full WSM rebuild kit @ .020" over. 2 hours in a drum at idle, all was well, then a steady dribble of cold water from the front of the powerhead where it meets the exhaust adapter. It did run hot once, Iong story there, I've since done...

1987 Johnson J110TLCUR 110 hp VRO Outboard Motor

Do you have a manual with a wiring diagram? Worth its weight in gold. If the coils got switched, top for bottom or vice versa, no fire. Your PO made a mess of other things, it's a possibility. The diagram shows which wire from the CDI two pin connector goes to which coil. My #2 and #4 coils got...

J90MLCRD '84 90hp crossflow. Complete overhaul. Need full advance timing #'s

New everything. The WSM overhaul kit. Bored .020", pistons, bearings, water pump, carbs, the whole 9 yards. Carb kits were OE, not some kit from wonton, I finally got it finished. Fired for the first time today. 20 mins at 900 rpm. Looking to double check WOT timing advance. After 10 hr easy...

J90MLCRD Port extension-Any value to this part?

My '84 90hp was missing these when I got it. The one I do have came with some other parts I bought off eBay. Is it worth searching for the other one? I had a two stroke rocket as a kid. I put velocity stacks on the mikunis after jetting cuz that's what we did back then. Are these some kind of...

J90MLCRD-'84 90hp Broken exhaust bolt boss

The pic wil do a better job of describing what I'm up against. I cannot be the first to have had to deal with this. It is a second hand block that had good enough cylinder liners to bore, but has been into before and was put back together with box store grade 3 garbage 1/4 20 exhaust cover...

1984 Johnson 90 crossflow J90MLCRD-No exhaust adapter to outer exhaust housing gasket?

I have a new can of that for the build. Thanks again. I don't get on here much anymore. Life happens, I love motorcycles too. But it was good to see your name pop up again. I'm gonna need some help repairing a lower for my 60 at some point in the future. I've got to get this never-ending 90hp...

1984 Johnson 90 crossflow J90MLCRD-No exhaust adapter to outer exhaust housing gasket?

In the process of putting this one back together. I have the full rebuild kit from WSM. There is no gasket for the exhaust housing adapter (part # 0324059) to outer exhaust housing (part # 0435318). It's a long story as to why this had to come apart. No need to go there. On the BRP parts catalog...

Old topic. I've searched. No model # on the disc.

Racerone, there is no cowling. This is the bare block I just bought today with warranty. I'll include pics. There is a 6 digit #. It looks just like a BRP #. I've included it. 329819 But BRP parts search doesn't recognize it. There is another 5 digit # that looks like a date. 919 94 I've also...

Old topic. I've searched. No model # on the disc.

I'm familiar with INTRODUCES. Familiar with how to identify by model #. This block, and it's only a block, only has a string of numbers under the stamped circled M on the little silver disc. Looks like a freeze plug. Some call it a welch plug. C2832834. Not the familiar J88TSLEOC. Right now I'm...

    1984 J90 HP .060" over. Why not?

There are dozens of Starrett inside mikes out there. Just depends on what. guy is willing to pay. Looks like a decent used set is around $100 or less.

    1984 J90 HP .060" over. Why not?

So... I've put everything on hold until a suitable block...3.529" bore wear or under can be found. It depends on who's reading the micrometer too. The hangup is the majority of ebayers don't post and won't warranty a block to come in under a specific range. One does, a guy from Washington, The...

    1984 J90 HP .060" over. Why not?

Ok... still learning about some of the finer points on these engines. I was lead to believe mild chamfering ports after a bore job lessened the chances of a ring hanging on them. Your thoughts?

'84 90 hp V4 Unknown hole in mount bracket. Zerk or no? Should it even be there?

I was cleaning things up when I found this hole from the inside of the bracket. I cleared the crud out of it and it then went clear thru to the outside. It connects outside atmosphere or water directly with the pivot shaft keeper, which sits in a race of its own. What was grease inside of this...
