​Is Rack & Pinion part (Morse # b305083 132) fairly easy to find online vs a kit?

Is this Rack & Pinion part (Morse # b305083 132) attached fairly easy to find online vs a kit? If so where would be a good source online? I hope this is enough info and good info as I am trying to help a friend w/o seeing the part and etc..

It would be better to replace the entire assembly. If the rack is worn, chances are the pinion is too.

AS far as I know, They only come as rack with cable attached. Better to but a whole new helm. If there is room, rotary helms are relatively cheap.

The unit comes a 1 piece. The rack is part of the cable.
The kit, depending on the length isn't that expensive.
If the rack is bad usually the connecting shaft isn't good either.

Thanks! I?ll pass the info on to my Friend. Not having a Rack & Pinion, I?ll question if he has not respected and serviced indicators vs Fishing Around The Clock.(all in fresh water)???
