Hi,
I bought a tracker boat equipped with a 60HP 1989 Johnson outboard (TJ60TLCEA) last year.
Compressions are 100, 83, 100 (I know the numbers are not great)
The engine used to run with a muffler in my garage, but did not when I put it in water. So, I tried to increase the idle rpm a little bit. (I remember cranking it many times in a short time when I was trying to adjust it.)
Now the engine doesn’t crank at all and I found the fuse was blown.
I replaced the fuse several times and it kept blowing when I tried to crank the engine.
Also when I trimmed up/down the engine from the buttons close to the engine, it worked fine but it doesn’t from the console, and the fuse kept being blown.
I checked the rectifier and found one of the diodes was dead. So I replaced with new one.
Now, even when I try to press the trim button close to the engine or from the console, it doesn’t work and fuse doesn’t get blown.
However, if I try to crank the engine, the fuse still gets blown.

I don’t know how I can get the trim and engine fixed any more and I am pretty much lost…
Any advice is really helpful !!
Thanks !!

No, I haven’t.
Maybe I should get a wiring diagram to check where the grounds are.
Thanks.
