'01 125 rev limiter

anyone know what the rev limiter is set at on this motor?

Sorry, don't know. But you don't want to ever come close to overrevving any of those inline 4s. They snap cranks! Follow the max RPM spec TO THE LETTER! Overrev at your own peril. :eek:

yes i know the down sides and all that but im tryna get my motor propped right but i think my tach may be off...know of anyways to check it?

thank you but thats max recommended rpms..it will spin more...im just having a time finding out where the limiter is set

I dont recall those CDM´s as having a rev limiter, the sportjets did but merc never told us anything about a rev limiter on the inline 4´s. there may be. a call to rapair/CDI may get some answers as the repair and reman a lot of those ign system components. however merc did a lt of things and thoughtfully failed to tell us techs.<br /> they also denied any stator issues for years but we replaced truck loads of them.<br /> the best place to find an answer would most likly be rapair/CDI.

thanks rodbolt...i did talk to someone at a shop who said 5700 but when it gets up to 5400 its like the motor starts to cut out or almost like im "losing traction" i guess is what it feels like...if that is indeed my limiter and it is set at 5700 then my tach is off...thats the reson im asking...how would one go about calibtating a tach?
