'02 3.0L replace '88 3.0L?

Hi all,

I just found my block is cracked on my '88 Maxum. I got the boat for free from my father-in-law last month & he failed to winterize it : ( leading to my cracked block. I posted an ad on craigslist and found a guy who had purchased 2 new 3.0L Mercruisers back in '02 & recently upgraded his size and just wants them out of his shed. What would have to be done to my current setup to get one of these things to fit. I have a 20' 1988 Maxum with a prealpha outdrive.

Wasn't there a change in the crankshaft flange when they went to the one piece seal that required a different flywheel?
