A little more detail please. Hole in carb throat or in the throttle plate itself? Picture would help. There are several holes in the carburetor throttle bore. With the throttle closed, one may be visible. With the trottle open you may see one or two more. These are idle and off-idle ports. If there is a hole in the throttle plate, that was put there to provide the air the engine needs with the throttle closed.
