I have a 2003 Bombardier/Evinrude 150 outboard. While out fishing yesterday, my oil alarm went off, which brings the engine to idle, then cuts off. The engine had plenty of oil. It did this a few times. All I had to do was turn the key all the way off, then restart it, and it would last for at least thirty mins before the alarm would go off agaim. After the first time, it ran for a couple of hours. with no problems.
I don't know what the problem is. If anybody could help me out I would appreciate it. thanks, Matt

Re: '03 Evin 150 oil alarm blows for no reason

Hey Matt
Was it the rapid alarm of "no oil" or the sporadic "low oil" alarm. If it kicked down to an idle, I'm assuming the "no oil". Is this a carbed or injected motor? Is it still under warranty? You may simply have an air leak between the oil tank and the vro, a clogged oil pickup tube, or a ruptured vro diaphram, or a leak in the pulse line. If under warranty, I'd explore that option first.
Good luck

It's the no oil alarm. It has the ficht ram injection. It's still under warranty, I've had it in the shop for a couple weeks now, theyre taking their sweet time, and haven't done a thing.
I was hoping to get enough info, to talk to the mechanics, and sound like I know what I'm talking about. maybe they'd put me a little higher on the priority list.
thanks
