Background. Last year just before the end of the season I started noticing is slight stumble around 4200 rpms. The engine would bog for a second, drop a few hundred rpms and then back to normal. Below 4200 there were zero issues and motors both ran fine and perfectly in sync. Pulled the boat from storage, and installed new plugs before she went back in. She purred like a kitten until last weekend. Now the problem is back.
Decided to check the fuel pump for paint as that seemed to be a big deal. Pulled the high pressure pump off and there were a few flakes but nothing I would consider serious. I went ahead and disassembled the entire system only to find nothing notably wrong. Instead of just ordering a high pressure pump I splurged and ordered the whole assembly. Pump assembly arrived today and installed with no issues. Fired right up so we took it for a spin.
Now it bogs on the throttle up and all over the place! Virtually every fixed rpm range resulted in a stumble. Admiral said she smelled fuel in the water when we were docking so now I'm not burning enough fuel? It is not fuel related as the starboard engine runs just fine.
Possible issues:
Screens still on the fuel pressure regulators. E clips ordered.
Not enough spark?
ECM issue?
Pick up tube? Single tank. Two pick ups?
Any other thoughts? Advice? Engines are in a Formula 330ss if it makes any difference.
