04' 9.9 johnson 4 stroke---- Weak spark.

I have a 99 johnson 4 stroke, it has stopped running. I can pull the plugs and ground them and they will not produce a spark that you can see or hear. If I man up and grab the plug it gives me a VERY slight jolt so I know its attempting to spark but is just very weak. Any Idea where to start? whats common to fail and cause this? plugs are new

Could be a bad CDI unit or a bad Coil. But go to shop.evinrude.com and check out your mtr. The prices on the parts will blow your shorts off. If you're going to do this work yourself it's best to get an OEM Factory Service Manual. There are other components in the ign system that could be bad.
