04' Merc 15hp four stroke problems....

Bought a fish camp 04' Merc 15hp four stroke that came from canada. my problem is when at full throttle it feels as the motor is bogging down or has a loss of power (sputtering). does this sound familiar to anyone. I was tols that it may be the high speed neddle valve, due to the altitude differences in the US and canada, only proble, is I dont know where the high speed needle valve is on the carb to adjust. please help!!

there is no Hi speed needle. You probably got screwed by the fish camp people. Take the money you saved and try to convince a real mechanic to fix it for you.

No. The motor was a Mercury Fishcamp motor, owned by Mercury bought from Mercury...has two year warranty through Mercury. Just wanted to see if anyone had heard of this. Was told if I added to much oil to crankcase can also cause the same repsonse from the motor. I had overfilled the crankcase, which I have drained and will run tomorrow. thanks. if anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know.

It sounds like a dirty carb. Does it run better partially choked? I have a 2002 9.9 4-stroke that behaved the same way when I got it. It had been sitting unused for some time, cleaned the carb and now runs fine.

Took it out again today, same problems. Called Mercury Canada and they gave me a local shop to take it to...even offered to send me a replacement motor, gotta love em. <br /><br />Dropped off at the shop, now i gotta wait 2 weeks for them to look at it. Thanks for the hlp.
